Our History
In June 1991, Hudson Memorial Church initiated an extension service to serve CSI members residing in and around the Koramangala area. Worship services began on the premises of the ACTS Institute, Koramangala, with the generous support of Rev. Ken Gyanakannan (late), who kindly provided the space for Sunday worship.
Five families from Hudson Memorial Church played a pivotal role in organizing and establishing these Sunday services. From 1991 to 1993, worship was held regularly at the ACTS Institute.
As the congregation grew, the founding members decided to seek a larger location. From January 1994 to October 2005, worship services continued at the Institute of Youth and Development, Koramangala.
During this period, with the pastoral care of Hudson Memorial Church, the congregation steadily grew. Regular Sunday worship services were conducted alongside celebrations of Easter, Christmas, and other special occasions. Activities such as the Harvest Festival, Church Anniversary, Sunday School, and Women’s Fellowship also flourished, reflecting the vibrancy and dedication of the growing community.

Our Own Place for Worship
Seeking a Permanent Premises
From the early 2000s, the congregation began seeking their own premises in Koramangala to conduct worship. Their prayers were answered when the church leadership identified a suitable location. The property owner, Mr. Francis Sunderaj (late), a member of the Methodist Church, Indiranagar, wholeheartedly offered to sell the land for the construction of a church. The property was purchased by the Diocese with a significant contribution from Hudson Memorial Church, complemented by funds raised by the Koramangala congregation over the years.
Building the Ark
Work on the church began in late 2004. Mr. Davis Moses, an architect from the Diocese and a resident of Koramangala, provided a distinctive design for the church in the shape of an Ark. After securing the necessary approvals, Mr. Bennet Solomon was appointed as the contractor to construct the building. The foundation stone was laid on May 13, 2005.

The First Presbyter
Reverend H.S. Karunakara (late), who had served as the Presbyter-in-Charge since 2001, set an inspiring example by contributing his one-month salary to the church building fund. His act of generosity was followed by many members of the congregation.

The Dedication of CSI Koramangala Church
The construction of the church was completed in September 2005, and the building was dedicated on October 15, 2005, by the Bishop of Karnataka Central Diocese, Rt. Rev. S. Vasanth Kumar. The dedication ceremony was attended by Rev. Dr. Robert Rominger (Moderator, Thames North Synod, UK) and Rev. Dale Rominger (International Programme Officer, URC, UK), alongside office bearers, council members, the church congregation, and visitors from other churches.
The interiors, including furniture, pews, and fittings, were generously donated by well-wishers and congregation members. Hudson Memorial Church also graciously donated a pulpit to the newly built church.
